Rich talks to exciting young novelist Ashley Hickson-Lovence about his extraordinary book Your Show, a novelised biography of the UK's first and only black Premiership referee Uriah Rennie. They discuss writing a novel on an iPhone, what inspired this book and the joy of researching the subject, as well as meeting and corresponding with him, the representation of black people in football and publishing and the big stylistic choice that Ashley made, even though he'd have told his creative writing students not to use it!
